How to delete apps on iPhone 7

Though it's far from the latest and greatest, many of you are still happily rocking the iPhone 7 or iPhone 7 Plus, loading it up with fun apps to entertain, or just be productive. As the apps stack up, there comes a time to let them go. With that in mind, join us for a simple tutorial as we show you how to delete apps on iPhone 7. (By the way, this guide stil

The process is pretty simple if you are doing it from your device. There's a few quick taps and clicks to make your app of choice uninstall, and take its data with it. Don't worry, you can always reinstall these apps, and if you did not intend to remove it, be sure to check your iCloud backup for saved data, retrieving your game status and more.

Let's get started.

How

On the Home screen of your iPhone 7, long press on an app icon. It does not matter which you press on, but it does make sense to hit the app you are thinking of removing.

The screen will begin to wiggle, or at least your app icons do. You are now in the Home screen editing mode, as I call it, where you can re-arrange app icons for your needs, or uninstall apps altogether.

Not all apps can be deleted, those that can have a small 'x' in the top corner of the app icon. I bet you guessed what the next step is:

Tap the little 'x' and answer affirmatively on the pop-up notification box to confirm the deletion of the app.

The app will remove from your device, as will any saved data that it had stored on your device.

When you are finished deleting apps and re-arranging icons to better suit your needs, simply tap the Home button to exit the wobbly Home screen editing mode.

Can I do it from my computer?

For those of you that still like to connect your iPhone to your PC, there is a tool for you as well. We'll not walk through it, but the idea is pretty simple.

Head into iTunes on your connected Mac or PC, have a look for Sync Settings and ensure that your app of choice is not set to sync, that is, it will re-download to your phone. Deleting the app from iTunes on your PC is a little outdated of a process, but it still works.

Having issues?

If for some reason you do not see the 'X' on the app icon when it is wobbling on your screen, there are two possible causes. The most common cause for difficulty in uninstalling apps from your iPhone 7 is the unfortunate fact that you cannot uninstall system apps. Those are the ones that were installed when you first turned on your device.

The second common reason you may not be able to uninstall is in the security settings of the device. Head into your system Settings -> General -> Restrictions to see if restrictions are turned on, then turn them off, at least temporarily, until the uninstall is complete.

Follow these steps to transfer information to your new device, then remove your personal information from your old device.

Transfer information to your new device

If you have a new iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch, you can use Quick Start to automatically transfer information from your old device to your new device if you're using iOS 11 or later. Use iCloud, iTunes, or the Finder to transfer information to your new device if you're using iOS 10 or earlier.

If your phone number will change with your new device, add additional trusted phone numbers to your account to ensure you don't lose access. If you no longer have access to your old phone number, you can generate a two-factor authentication code on your old device if needed.
